Not Your Typical Mac and Cheese
Well after a long discussion on what we were going to make for dinner yesterday, the girlfriend and I decided on ham steaks and mac and cheese. She had been wanting to make her version of mac and cheese for me for awhile, so I figure I would give it a shot.
Not Your Typical Mac and Cheese
Ingredients
- 1 lb box of Farfalle (Bowtie Pasta)
- 8 oz “Seriously Sharp” Cabot White Cheddar Cheese (Grated)
- 8 oz “Extra Sharp” Cabot Yellow Cheddar Cheese (Grated)
- 3 oz Asiago Cheese (Grated)
- 1 brick of Philadelphia Cream Cheese
- Approx 3 oz Plain Bread Crumbs
- 1/4 c grated Parmesean Cheese
- 1/2 to 1 c of Whole Milk
- 1 stick of butter
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Boil the pasta for about 5-6 minutes. Drain, but do not rinse. Put the pasta back into the hot pot and add the cream cheese and 3/4 of the butter. Stir the pasta, butter, and cream cheese until its all melted and coats the pasta. Add the milk, stir and apply very low heat. Slowly add the grated cheeses, stirring constantly. Once the cheeses are all melted, remove from heat and transfer the mixture to a buttered 2 1/2 quart baking dish. Sprinkle the top of the mixture with the bread crumbs and parmesean cheese. Dot the topping with a few small pieces of butter. Bake for 30-40 minutes or until topping starts to turn golden brown.

Hi Crazy Tom, i just blog hopped frm Eugene’s blog regarding the organ donation tingy., I think Crazy Tom need nt wrry about that issue of organ nt fitting the receipients. coz of all the organs u pledge like cornea, skin, kidney, liver, heart, lungs & wat more, the organ team will take & put in a bank. I’m sure they will check that eveerthing is OK before the transplant is carry out. Just like blood donation. Just make sure all donors carry the donor card in ur wallet for easy identification.
BTW great blog u have for sharing ur CRAZY recipes. I personally wud prefer more pics on each post of ur great recipe. Pics speak a thousand wrd..dnt u think.?
Thank you for the information regarding the organ donation thing. I do think that it is actually a really great idea. There are too many people out there who are on their last leg who could use the organs. I would hate to go to heaven knowing that I didn’t help someone who could have been saved.
Thank you as well for the compliments on the blog. I do plan on taking pictures as I make some more of my recipes. The recipes I have posted are ones that I had either made or came up with prior to getting a new digital camera. That, and I need to work on my presentation as well. LOL
this is great, I am planning to do mac n’ cheese for dinner. my daughter loves it. will try this.
Let me know how it comes out. If you like it very cheesy I might suggest to use 12 ozs of each of the cheddars.
Wow…two of our cheeses in one dish? What an honor! Hope it doesn’t lead to cheese overload!

Yes Jen, two Cabot cheeses in one dish.
It’s amazing isn’t it. There was definitely not an overload of cheese. The flavor of the Cabot Cheeses gave us exactly what we were looking for.
Awesome – I don’t think you can have enough cheese, either!
And thanks for supporting Cabot; it means a lot to our farmers. All of our profits go right back to our co-op of small farmers, so in these tough times, it helps them tremendously to have fans like you!
